WHEN YOUR MIND IS ALWAYS ON

Ruminating on yesterday’s conversations

Hyperfocusing on today’s to-do list

Overthinking tomorrow’s what-ifs

From the outside, your life may look enviable. You have a family you care deeply about and a lot to be grateful for. And you know that, but it doesn’t fully translate into how you feel day-to-day.

You’re managing a lot, and you do it well. You’re used to being the one others rely on. It’s a role you’ve carried for a long time. You stay on top of things — your calendar, your lists, always keeping everything moving.

Even in moments that are good, it can feel like you’re not quite able to appreciate them. There’s still that tension in your body. The looping thoughts. A feeling of bracing. Like your system doesn’t get the message that it’s safe to settle.

You don't have to keep running on this setting.

A STEADY WAY FORWARD

Most people who reach out have been thinking about it for a while. They are not in crisis. They just know something needs to shift, and they are finally ready to find out what that could look like.

They are often surprised by how quickly things begin to feel different. Not because the hard stuff disappears, but because they finally have a space that is entirely their own. Somewhere to slow down, think out loud, and start to understand what has been running in the background for so long.

If that sounds like you, this might be the right place.

I’m Hilary, an Anxiety and Trauma Therapist in New York City

I provide anxiety therapy and trauma therapy for adults in New York City and across New York State. With over 20 years of experience and a New York childhood where achievement was the baseline not the ceiling, I understand the drive to keep striving, the mental load, and how 'good enough' can feel just out of reach. As a parent, I know the particular weight of being the one everyone orients around. I understand these experiences from the inside, which shapes not just how I listen, but how I help things actually change.

Over time, something begins to shift. You start to:

  • stop replaying conversations after they're over

  • notice your patterns in the moment, not just after the fact

  • know what you need and trust it

  • actually enjoy a slow morning instead of filling it

I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Somatic Therapy so change happens not only in how you think, but also in how you move through your day-to-day life and relate to yourself. Therapy with me is reflective and real, and lighter than people often expect it to be. That's not incidental. The relationship itself is part of what heals.

If you're curious, we can start with a conversation.

Frequently Asked Questions about Anxiety & Trauma Therapy In NYC

  • Yes. All sessions are held via a HIPAA-compliant, secure video platform, accessible to clients across New York State.

  • I work with adults who are, by most measures, doing really well. They're productive, capable, and often the person others rely on. And yet something underneath doesn't quite match the outside. They want to actually enjoy what they've built, not just manage it.

Most of my clients aren't in crisis. They're just tired of feeling like they're running on a setting they never chose, and ready to understand what's keeping them there.

  • I use CBT, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic therapy, not as a menu but as an integrated approach that addresses thoughts, emotions, and the body at the same time. What that looks like depends on you. Some people need tools for the thoughts. Others need to slow down and notice what's happening in their bodies. Most need both, in different amounts at different times.

A big part of this is helping you catch your own patterns in real time, not just understand them intellectually. Most people come in with more self-awareness than they give themselves credit for. A lot of what happens here is helping you articulate what you already sense, and then figure out what to do with it. I pay close attention and I'll tell you what I'm noticing.

I offer psychoeducation along the way too, because sometimes having language for your experience, and understanding why you're wired the way you are, is itself a relief.

The goal isn't just understanding your patterns. It's responding to them differently.

  • Rates are $325 for a 45-minute session and $400 for a 60-minute initial evaluation.

  • I am in-network with UMR Top Tier for Mount Sinai employees and their families. For everyone else, many insurance plans include out-of-network benefits that can reimburse psychotherapy fees by 40 to 100% depending on your plan. To find out what you're entitled to, call the Member Services number on your insurance card and ask:

Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits for telehealth? What portion of the fee will be reimbursed? What is my co-insurance percentage for out-of-network mental health services? Do I need a referral or prior authorization for out-of-network mental health services? How many sessions are covered per calendar year? Do I have an out-of-network deductible, and how much has been met? What is the maximum allowable reimbursement rate for the following codes: 90791, 90837, 90834 (add "-95" to indicate telehealth)?

HSA and FSA funds may also be used for payment. Full payment is due at the time of each session.

  • Reach out through email, text, phone, or the contact form to schedule a free 15-minute consultation. It’s a chance to learn more about therapy with me, ask questions, and talk through what’s been going on and the kind of support you’re looking for.
